eSeekerz.com has been live for a number of weeks now, albeit in a beta version, but people are using it and according to the feedback we’re getting they’re enjoying it and striking up some good deals and new friendships. The entire raison ‘d’ etre for eSeekerz.com is for people to use the platform in whatever way they find fun and in whichever way they think they can get the most out of it. And the rational behind eSeekerz.com is to reflect all that’s good about the Internet and put some power back into the hands of the people. The great thing about the Internet is that it’s such an amazing leveller. It’s helped open up things that were previously closed and has provided ordinary people with a measure of influence that was not previously possible. The world’s corporate behemoths and dictatorial regimes have long been running scared about the Internet because it threatens their hegemony. Look at what happened in Egypt when the dictator Mubarak was finally toppled. It would be a bit much to claim that the Internet was the reason why he fell, after all people were fed up with the injustice and oppression, and it was this rising tide of searing anger that finally felled him. But there were a number of Egyptian activists who used the Internet to communicate secretly with each other and even larger numbers who used it to let the world know what was really happening. The mainstream news outlets – with the exception of Al Jazeera – where by and large unable to get in there and tell the story as it was happening. And of the 400,000 people who saw the video at this link - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5MgCziE-Qxg – few will forget it. It summed up the fight of the people of Egypt, their courage and the things they endured. Without the Internet this message wouldn’t have got out there – except in a heavily edited form. Now, we’re not political at eSeekerz but we are advocates of Internet-based technologies and the positive effect they can have. Social networks, for example, have become so popular because they address a basic human need – the urge to communicate and they provide a platform to stay in touch and let others know what’s happening in real time irrespective of location. eSeekerz.com just takes this a step further by giving back some power to ordinary people in daily life. For example, why go to an expensive store to buy some Riveria style, London swing or Italian panache when you’re just as likely to find the same thing at eSeekerz.com? We’ve just tied up some deals with third parties who provide items from Italy and other countries. As eSeekerz.com develops we’re aiming to build these third party deals out even further and ultimately we hope to have a platform that connects people from all over the world, for instance, a seller in Indonesia with a buyer in Spain, a trader in China with some buyers in Canada and most of all friends with friends where ever they may be. All the best.- www.eSeekerz.com
